Rise and Dine: This New Shire Cafe Is Calling Your Name

Say Hello To O’Nikki Cafe

O’Nikki interior

To the delight of our coffee fiends and brunch-loving Instagram addicts, we bring you O’Nikki, the Shire’s newest cafe. O’Nikki is tucked away on a sun-drenched road in suburban Miranda. The doors of O’Nikki only just opened two weeks ago and yes, you guessed it, we’ve already had our first visit. We have to admit, a change from the hustle and bustle of Cronulla’s brunch scene was welcomed with open arms.

The bright, light-filled cafe is home to blue and white Mediterranean interiors that make us feel like we’re on a (much needed) European escape.

The cafe has a relaxed vibe and welcoming atmosphere, with ample seating, both indoor and outdoor, so your four-legged friend is more than welcome.

O’Nikki serves up artfully plated brunch fare, with truly something for everyone. Their all-day menu covers all your breakfast and lunch cravings, making the decision of what to order far from easy. You will find everything from eggs your way and jalapeno corn fritters to a cured salmon bagel, roast chicken salad and slow roast short ribs.

To help combat our morning chills, we ordered the Spice Infused Coconut Porridge, Avocado Toast and the Turkish Eggs Pita Bread Labneh. Each dish was beautifully presented, boasting an explosion of flavour to match. The Spice Infused Coconut Porridge was topped with toasted macadamia and coconut, roasted apple, a drizzle of maple syrup and pomegranate. This soul-warming dish was full of flavour and sweetened to perfection.

The Avocado Toast, full of colours, was simple yet seriously moreish. If you're feeling dusty, add poached eggs to create the perfect combo. The Turkish Eggs had a delicious pita bread base, embellished with labneh, roast capsicum, mushroom, chorizo and crumbled persian feta. This unique dish is a cafe favourite and we can certainly understand why. If you’re after something a little adventurous, give it a try.

It seems Shire cafes are constantly raising the benchmark when it comes to brunching and lunching. But with this new kid on the block, it looks like the decision of where to eat just got harder. O’Nikki showcases unique flavour combinations and vibes that speak Euro-nostalgia. You’ll most certainly need a second visit (if not a second stomach) to sample all of O’Nikki’s menu favourites.
