Tea with Bec

What started as casual tea gatherings with neighbours has evolved into Tea with Bec, one of the Shire's most unique experiences. From her Sylvania home tea studio, founder Bec is showing locals that tea can be about a whole lot more than what's in the cup.

More than a tea tasting, Tea with Bec is designed to help guests slow down, switch off and experience traditional Chinese tea in a whole new way. Each class features guided tastings, premium Chinese teas and insights into the traditions that have shaped tea culture for centuries. Along the way, guests discover how each variety differs in flavour, origin and health benefits, all while learning why traditional Chinese tea is worlds apart from the tea bags most of us are used to.

The teas featured throughout the experience have been personally sourced by Bec from remote tea-growing regions throughout Taiwan and China, including rare varieties that are difficult to find elsewhere in Australia. And unlike your standard cup of tea, each variety is brewed multiple times, revealing new flavours and characteristics with every pour.

Along with guided tastings, Bec teaches guests to use tea as a moment to slow down, focus on the senses and be present, turning a cup of tea into a mindful ritual.

"It's really about creating a moment of presence," says Bec. "The tea naturally encourages people to slow down, pay attention and connect with themselves."

What began as informal gatherings with neighbours and local mums has grown into a purpose-built Sylvania tea studio offering immersive experiences for small groups. After nearly 20 years in corporate banking and finance, Bec found that taking time for tea in the traditional “Gongfu tea style” helped her feel grounded, centred and calm, inspiring her to share the experience with others.

Today, guests can book into fortnightly Friday and Saturday sessions at Bec's purpose-built Sylvania home tea studio, featuring both indoor and outdoor spaces designed to feel like a dedicated tea house.

Alongside her regular classes, Bec also hosts pop-up events and collaborations, including previous experiences at Botanica Lane and Medusa Hotel, as well as private bookings for birthdays, hens celebrations, wellness events, corporate groups and intimate gatherings. She can host from her Sylvania studio or bring the experience to a venue of your choice.

In a world that rarely slows down, Tea With Bec offers a reason to pause, sip and savour each moment. Book a class today to reserve your spot and experience the rituals, flavours and mindful tradition of Chinese tea firsthand.
