The Shire Dating Events Taking Singles Off The Apps And Into Real Life
Infynite Connections is breaking the ice with line dancing and PowerPoint pitches for your single mates
Infynite Connections
If your dating app conversations keep going from promising to radio silence, it might be time to give your thumbs a break.
Enter Infynite Connections, the host of weekly dating events that help singles step away from the screen and meet people the old-fashioned way. Created for those craving real connection without the judgment or awkwardness, they’re designed to feel more like a fun night out and less like, well, a singles event.
Forget name tags and speed dating. Each event is centred around an activity or shared interest, with a host there to break the ice, make introductions and keep things moving.
“People are over swiping. They want to meet others in real life and get a feel for who they actually are, rather than what they’re seeing through a screen,” says Infynite founder, Gem.
The idea took shape after Shire local Gem moved to Melbourne and began attending singles events to meet new people. She saw an opportunity for a more relaxed, interactive approach.
“I don’t just want to put people in a room and expect them to talk,” says Gem. “I want to create an environment that makes connecting feel easier.”
Take Wingmate Live, for example. Guests bring along a single or taken friend to help make introductions. The main event? Wingmates take to the stage with a PowerPoint presentation explaining why their friend is a catch, complete with flattering photos, questionable stories and a few green and red flags thrown in for good measure.
Then there’s Cowboy or Cowgirl Wants a Partner, which pairs guided line dancing with dedicated mingling breaks. No experience is needed, so if your two-step needs work, you won’t be alone.
“Everyone is in the same boat,” says Gem. “Learning the dances together naturally prompts laughs, chat and connection. People have fun and they naturally begin mingling.”
Beyond these signature events, Infynite runs weekly social events grouped by age bracket to help guests meet people at a similar stage of life. Think casual coffee catch-ups, games nights with a little friendly competition and singles-only mixers. For those who’d rather break a sweat, Burpees & Bachelor(ette)s brings together team workouts, challenges and icebreakers to get everyone talking.
So, if your screen time is climbing but your dating life is going nowhere, consider this your sign. Check out the upcoming events here and let Infynite take care of the introductions.
