Georges River Sailing Club has officially re-entered the chat, and the makeover is big. After a $12 million transformation, the iconic Dolls Point venue opened its doors late last year with a brand-new look, a brand-new dining experience, and a whole new feel along the Botany Bay foreshore.

If you’ve ever driven past the club at golden hour and thought “this spot deserves its moment”, consider that box officially ticked.

Originally founded in 1927, the Club has long been part of the community fabric. Now, thanks to a full-scale redevelopment by Alt. Hospitality Group, it’s stepped into its modern era, designed for moments that lean social, relaxed, and effortlessly elevated. “Georges River Sailing Club has been part of the community for nearly 100 years, and this investment secures its future as a vibrant hub for dining, celebration, and connection,” says Chris White, Interim CEO of Alt. Hospitality Group.

Floor-to-ceiling glass, coastal interiors, and views that stretch across Dolls Point Beach give the whole venue that “why don’t we do this more often?” energy.

“This transformation is about creating a venue that’s proudly local — a space where people can enjoy themselves, experience something different, and leave with memories that last,” says Chris.

Introducing Porta – Mediterranean dining, redefined.

The name you’ll be hearing (and tasting) a lot this summer and beyond? Porta. The Club’s new Mediterranean restaurant has already been making waves. Picture a sun-soaked spot where good food, good company, and bay views come standard.

Under the direction of Executive Head Chef Harry Finch, the menu leans into generous dishes that celebrate fresh, local produce. “It’s dining that feels effortless, social, and full of flavour — the way food by the water should be,” says Finch. Highlights include Citrus-Cured Salmon Crudo, Whipped Salted Cod, and Slow-Roasted Lamb Shoulder with Tzatziki.

Cocktails by Maybe Sammy? You’re set.

The Club has teamed up with Maybe Sammy, one of the world’s most awarded bars, to craft an exclusive cocktail menu for Porta. Think spritzes, clever classics with a twist, and signature drinks designed just for this space. “We wanted to deliver cocktails that are as memorable as the view,” says Chris.

Beyond Porta, every corner of the Club has had a major transformation. There’s a reimagined function level that can host everything from weddings to birthday parties, a sports bar and lounge with a giant screen made for big games, and a lineup of live music and DJs that’ll keep weekends lively.

“With the sparkle of Botany Bay as our backdrop, we’ve created a place where people can gather every day of the week, from family dinners to cocktails at sunset or milestone celebrations.”

Accessibility upgrades, including a new lift and staircase, round it all out. As the Club heads toward its 100th birthday, it’s clear this isn’t just a refresh, it’s the start of a whole new chapter on the bay.
