And now, there’s a new reason to make the trip: Brick pit is officially open on Sundays. For a café that’s been part of the local routine for a decade, it’s a pretty big shift.
Brick Pit isn’t just a catchy name, it’s a nod to the area’s past. Long before South Village, this part of Kirrawee was home to a major industrial site producing bricks and clay pipes from local clay.
The space today still reflects that influence. There’s a modern, industrial feel to it that’s equal parts chic and functional, without being overly polished or overdesigned, and that’s exactly why it works.
Backed by White Horse Coffee, this is their largest site, and it’s set up to cater to just about everyone — from those settling in for a slow brunch to the work-from-café crowd. Downstairs offers a mix of indoor and outdoor seating (yep, dogs are welcome), while upstairs is where you’ll find sun-soaked picnic benches made for bigger coffee catch-ups.
It goes without saying, but the coffee here is a big part of the draw. White Horse Coffee has built a strong name in the specialty space, and Brick Pit delivers on it. Whether you’re keeping it simple with a flat white or branching out, there’s plenty to work through.
Batch brew rotates with two single origins on offer, there’s always a showcase espresso (current favourite: Candy Mountain, with notes of red frogs and peach lollies), and their award-winning White Knight blend is a daily go-to for many regulars.
Brick Pit’s food lineup is equally impressive. The menu is seasonal, meaning it evolves throughout the year based on what’s available, so even regulars will notice it shifting with the seasons. That said, a few staples have earned their place. The Chicken BLT with onion aioli, Steak Sandwich and Fritters are all crowd favourites, and for good reason.
